Over $1800 In Video Cards To Run Crysis On Very High

Don't Forget To Digg!

PC Games Hardware magazine has finally done it. They got Crysis to run smooth on very high with a Triple SLI video card setup. The cards alone cost over $1800. I didn’t even know they made power supplies that could output 1200W!

As you can see from this benchmark picture, it barely even gets 37.9 FPS with this insane setup. How many years is it going to take consumer hardware before they can run Crysis the way it was mean to be run and at 60 FPS?

Average FPS of Tri-SLI setup is 14? Don't know about you but I couldn't play at that speed.

what I find so funny about these things is that 2 years from now a GT version of the then current Nvidia cards will be able to play crysis on very high at those resolutions and probably take up a 1/4 of the space.

Would triple SLI even work to the max? I mean, they couldn't even get regular SLI to work let alone drivers that are utilitized for Crysis to run triple frame rendering.

I noticed in the demo it wasn't SLI supported but SLI did work, however it was like 15% increase which sucked. The newer drivers and full version was supported and a bigger increase. So 3x SLI works but if they don't optimize it's a HUGE waste of money. Actually, buying 1800 bucks worth of hardware like it is a waste of money. These people need girlfriends lol

Next Generation Mid Range GPU > Previous Generation High End GPU.

That's how it's alway been and will continue to do so....

Triple SLI is a marketing gimmick by Nvidia to push the GPU sales figures up, and nothing more.

Crysis is a fantastic game but it's badly optimised for one reason, they had to rush it out to retail to meet deadlines. The Forthcoming Patch will probably change a heck of a lot in terms of achievable frame rates. Although, if these increases will help Vista and 64Bit is a different story altogether.

A few other games were just the same, COJ and Lost Planet.....they ran like utter crap originally until they had a patch. FarCry itself had issues before a Patch.
