I played the Japanese version. The game isn't very good, but it doesn't deserve an F either. X-play doesn't have a clue when it comes down to RPGs, especially JRPGs.

OK I have a few rants on my own.

First off, this guy doing the video needs to realize that japanese to english is a very hard translation and requires a good translator. It cannot be done easily with just a machine, as japanese is completely different than english. This guy apparantly does not know this and blames it on the japanese when infact im pretty the translator/subtitle writer is the person to blame. I bet this game's dialog is awesome with the japanese audio, which I would select if given the option in the game.

Second, This video seems really biased as he makes comments about japan/japanese quite a bit that are negative. It seems this guy wouldn't like this game even if it was good.

I give this guy a 1 out of 5 for being a bad reviewer and I'm not even a big fan of the FF series.

Dude this game is amazing.

GS gave it a score 9.0 out of 10.
It's the best PSP game ever, with the looks to match.

G4 sucks when it comes to reviewing games as far as what I've seen. ESPECIALLY XPlay - aside from their hilarious skits.

I some what disagree. The game definitely looks good, but the gameplay is extremely lackluster, repetitive, and boring at times. The only thing kept me playing the game was the story, which considering the game's lineage is simply amazing. But I think it would have been much better if they just kept the turn based system like FF7, or even something like FF12's that kept you at least somewhat engaged in the battle.

I am playing this game as we speak. Personally, its a great game for a "portable"... at least 8 out of 10 game.

Which RPG did x-play used as a reference for the score? I couldn't recall any [PSP] RPG that is superior than Crisis Core. There is no doubt FF7 and Xenogears are much better.. But you can't compare full console game with portable device. The budget and market just not the same.

This isn't a typical FF game but it seems like it is being compared to one. Honestly, the only thing that probably makes people think the game is great is the Final Fantasy in the title. It is a good game, especially for PSP, but at least for me, it's also a bit of nostalgia that's doing the talking (if it were just a FF4/6 pre/sequel, forget about it - that's nostalgia right there!).

Everyone has their own opinions on the FF series as a whole. Although I do agree that the whole FF7 spinoff has gone way too far.

Exactly, it was a biased and arguably racist review. It seems this guy gave it a bad rating just because it came from japan, or atleast thats how it sounded to me.

He might not be racist, but at least ignorant. That's the problem with x-play, their ratings are largely arbitrarily determined on a whim by the reviewers. But with a game like Crisis Core it is also hard to find reviewers non-biased in its favor.
