They removed it though because it was having problems, so why you anyone want Ubisoft to put back faulty code into their game?

Faulty? Read up. Many many many people who could take advantage of 10.1 actually had a boost in performance and quality. Many believe it's Nvidia's doing as they paid for their logo to be slapped on the game.

Just because people who don't understand how computers operate refer to Direct3D as DirectX doesn't deract from the fact that there is no such thing as DirectX10.1. I say again, over simplification so that typical gamers can understand is the only reason that a company may refer to Direct3D 10.1 as DirectX.

Either way, I didn't notice any performance issues when I played through the unpatched version of Assassin's Creed so I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Having said that I'm currently running dual 8800's, so perhaps only those with single, or weaker, GPU's notice the performance hit.

DirectX 10.1 is nothing special guys, i mean seriously. It's only an enhancement...

Mostly audio, and the ability to do 1 render pass instead of 2. Now, when your pushing excessive frame rates as it is does it matter?

Says the guy with a d3d 10 card. Yes it does matter, the d3d 10.1 performance was greatly increased over d3d 10. It may not matter too mcuh on this game but ANY performance boosting technology is important down the road.

Through speculation it is believed it was removed because it was an 'nVidia - The Way its Meant to be Played' game and with DX10.1, D3D10.1, whatever the hell you want to call it, it performed better on ATI cards that could take advantage of it. I guarantee that once nVidia comes out with a 10.1 card to run on it, it will be put back in, the exact same code as before but the patch notes will say it was 'fixed'. nVidia has a larger controlling interesting in Ubisoft than some may think.
