So far, this is my impression of the game is: Source + Serious Sam co-op gameplay + Doom 3 darkness + zombies. It's probably fun with friends but player movements are too fast and weapons are too powerful to make team tactics relevant (just like, dare I say, CS ). Sure the players can get incapacitated so teammates have to come to the rescue, but in reality they'll leave you helpless while they rack up points before coming back for you.

IMHO that kind of gameplay could do without the zombies. The FPS survival horror game I have in mind is more involving than holding mouse1 while some enemies flail with their melee attacks. If it's gonna involve zombies and creepy things then the gameplay should be tweaked for a more immersive, terrifying experience, but I guess that's not what Left 4 Dead is trying to be. Just because it's team-based doesn't mean it has to play like Quake. Then again, the devs might have been thinking that just because it involves zombies doesn't mean it has to be scary. The goal of "survival" was thrown out of the door as soon as scores were being tracked.

My and worth nothing more.

I agree, they should have some sort of realism like Alone In The Dark. Like the weapons they use in usual zombie movies, whatever is laying around, bats, wood, steel pipes, ax, etc. They actually have a thread on the Steam community website where you can post your ideas for the game:

Check out the AI for this game guys:

Quote:
The AI also features a dynamic system for game drama, pacing and difficulty called the "Director". Instead of fixed spawn points for enemies, the AI director places enemies in different positions, creating a new experience each time. It will also balance action and moments of tense calm.[4] When the AI Director feels that players have been facing a particularly intense battle, it will slow down the tide of enemies. After a sufficient lull of action, the director will send more enemies to increase the drama again.

Last year at this time, I was totally stoked for this game. Not so much anymore....

It looks like a game that should have came out in 2007, or 2006 (when it was originally planned to be released).

Regardless of the AI director, killing the same bots over and over again will lose its appeal quicker than most PvP FPS's.

The graphics should be on par with HL2:Ep2 which looks amazing, its be built on Source 2007 (TF2, Ep2, Portal, engine). If anything it will have more advanced graphics then Ep2, I'm sure Valve are busting there asses updating Source to look even better.
