challenging is playing with other players who can do a one shot head shot from 100 yards away. the challenge is knowing when to do stuff and when not to, all these new games are adding more and more textures into the map that make it unattractive because competitively playing is not about who can hide behind a rock better but who has more skill with a rifle/pistol/smg and who can stratigize better

But there is little skill in pointing and clicking if you don't have to take anything else into account. Strategy comes into play in all games, even the ones that look better than CS so you can't claim all they do is add textures.

There are a lot of fun FPS's that have come out recently, but none that I would say make good competition game. COD4 is very entertaining - fast paced - has a good structure - but it isn't anywhere near tactical enough to separate players based on skill. COD4 is all about reactions - if you see somebody first you're going to get the kill.

I definitely disagree that there are no decent new FPS's, but I agree that there aren't any good competition games

look at CS 1.6 vs CSS, which has more texture other then "graphics" but more objects. CS 1.6 has the perfect hitbox and can register every shot. Cod4 has so many objects in the maps that when me and my team play on CoD4 for fun we all hate it cause it is all about who can hide behind a blown up car and camp the longest.

there is so much skill in pointing and getting a head shot, if you don't believe me then thats just you

No, that's what Counter-Strike is. The whole point is that games like BF2 and COD4 require you to take into account more than just who sees who first when pointing and clicking...

Yeah, because there is no camping in CS... It's not just me that thinks there is more fun in a game that takes more thinking before you fire. And of course there is skill in getting a head shot, but that doesn't mean there isn't more to take into account in the other games.

On a side note: I wonder if Fatal1ty bunny hops...

i have played DoD (day of defeat) competitively also, and it is a huge difference compared to CS. i have played quake 3. i have played tons of games competitively. and believe me there is more then just pointing and shooting in CS and all of them there is so much strategy in all of these games it is ridiculous, from planting a bomb and not planting and a fake rush and smoking middle and doing a round about in de_inferno there is so much more then you think there is

The hole in your argument is that you think I think Counter-Strike is easy. I don't care if you've played competitively or not, it doesn't give you any more leverage in your argument. I am merely pointing out that there is more to take into account in other games in addition to what's inherent in CS.

In normal games, you're right CS isn't tatical, and everybody looks out for number 1. In organised matches, such as 5v5s, CS is very tactical.

I am not implying it isn't tactical, I am saying other games are just as tactical if not more so...
