well technincally speaking, the amount of GTA sold on the 360 almost broke the halo 3 record on it's own it terms of number sold. halo only won by a few thousand copies

if the total sold on day one is 3.6mil and 64% of that is purely 360 (sourcesource 2) which is 230,040,000 million copies and halo sold 2.34mill so it was pretty close.

Interesting, althought the conmparisons with movie sales and books is stupid. In terms of books, there rarely is hype so really total sales should be looked at not 24 hour sales. In terms of movies, Spiderman 3 sold the fastest in the first 24 hours till people told their friends it sucked and I would have thought the LOTR movies would have sold faster anyway. Regardless, The Dark Knight will break all records

And anyway, in terms of game sales WoW wins overall no matter how you look at it.
