On the latest PC Gamer UK mag, July 2008

PC Gamer Magazine had an exclusive interview with Crytek, where Crytek states Crysis has sold 3 million through retails sales worldwide.

That is a huge success for a game of such high requirements.

This interview can be found on page 27 of the PC Gamer UK Mag

Firstly link... secondly quotes

Now as for what you said... that means they cannot pull the piracy card. it's rubbish anyway as most who pirate would never have bought the damn game.

3 million is pretty good. i mean we cant compare it to the likes of GTA IV but for a game of such requirements thats alot sold. I bet most people didnt experience the game as it was meant to be played but it'll still remain to be a pc gaming benchmark for years to come. I just think its relation to far cry mustve sold it alot of copies.

"Please, I beg of you, don't post a bunch of 'Crysis sucks' or... 'Great graphics, ass gameplay'... or... 'It runs like a slideshow unless you have a $5000 PC' ... or... 'CoD4 looks and runs better'."

Image
"I've heard it before, on every single Crysis thread... and those are just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more Crysis bashing cliches I forgot about."

Image
"It was a really really good game. In fact I think I'll go play my not pirated version right now!"

Erm, sounds like your outta the tech loop a bit

We're talking 8800GT/GTS here - bit more expensive

And I really don't believe it's been 3 million =/

Then again, GTA IV did sell 9 million in comparison

Yeah? what about the people that bought a 8800GTX when they first came out. That card was king for like 1.5yrs

I agree, that isn't always true that hardware always goes outdated after 6 months. If you are smart and buy the right motherboard/PSU and current generation memory than your computer could last a very, very long time as you wont ever have to buy new memory, a new motherboard, a new power supply/dvd drives/HDD's etc....The only thing that you might want to upgrade is your GPU once every year or w/e and lately each CPU cycle has lasted at least 2 years before a new tock gets released that is barely any better than the tick.

Oh...well...alright.

If it really sold 3 million on a single platform, that's pretty good. While most here don't like it, multi-platform games are the future. It's simple too expensive to make a game and then just releasing it on a single platform. Some of the multi-platform games I've played is not too bad. Hopefully they will port Crysis to Xbox360 and PS3 so they can make some money, otherwise PC gaming might really die.

Wow, 3 million people all struggling to run Crysis, epic.
