Default [Valve/Steam] Heavy update Uses Help of Community

I know its already Been posted by someone else that the heavy is the next update for TF2 but no info given on the fact their asking the community for help link at bottom for the steam thread

Quote:
As Gabe mentioned in his lengthy response to an email recently, the next class pack will focus on the Heavy. For the Medic and Pyro packs we kept our goals for the pack pretty close to our chest, but for the Heavy we've decided to open up the process a little. Our hope is that you'll get a better insight into how we approach design problems, and have some fun thinking about the problem yourself. We do design collaboratively at Valve, and one of the side effects of it is that we really need to be able to evaluate design ideas as objectively as possible. Otherwise design meetings would devolve into subjective arguing. We've found that the best method of working objectively is to have clear goals up front. Once we've got clear goals, we can throw a bunch of ideas up on the board and measure how well each idea achieves those goals. Often the work of testing those ideas against the goals causes us to further refine or clarify the goals.

Does anybody else ever get the feeling that Valve is the only company that "gets it"?

They might "get it" with most of their updates, but for me TF2 has been ruined, I haven't played it since a few days after the pyro update, and I don't plan on playing it for a while. It was one of my favorite games and these new unlockables have completely changed it. TF2 did not need new weapons in the first place, each class had their specific role and now that has been changed, medics become "battle medics" and pyros now rush to their deaths in hopes of getting a kill. Who knows what future updates will do to the other classes. I say make a TF2 classic mode with no unlockables.

This isn't a bad idea... Surely, there must be a mode you can run in to allow this already right?

I too think that the pyro update screwed up that class big time. They're far more dangerous now especially with that damn backburner.

You mean, now they actually are dangerous?

Pyro before the update was just cannon fodder. You're just not used to them actually being able to toe it out with some other classes.
