The exact role each studio is playing in the development is unclear, though 2K noted that Digital Extremes is helping "optimize BioShock's performance on the PlayStation 3."
All four are believed to be working on other projects in addition to BioShock PS3, which could explain the need for multiple studios. 2K Marin is known to be working on the BioShock sequel, while 2K Boston and Australia are rumored to be reviving X-COM.

There has been no indication of Digital Extremes' current internal project or projects.

BioShock is expected to hit PS3 in October with as-yet-unspecified new features and content.. An untitled sequel is slated to hit unknown systems by October 2009.
dunno why they're using 4 studios, but i hope they do justice to the story...

I don't get it, this seems a little late. Most people have already tried and played the game. Will the sales profits cover the porting costs? I have no idea how much it costs to port a game over, but I doubt sales will be impressive.

What makes you think they'd change the story? I'm sure the game will be 100% identical story-wise to the 360 and PC versions.

This is happening because they help with the PS3 architecture. The xbox360 and PC are almost the same development. Where the PS3 is completely different.

Its sad because all this extra help costs the developers more money, They prob wont do as well money wise.

I have a feeling they will add something to it to make it worthwhile they have too. Just like gears had the extra chapters. They have to add something or i agree that it is a little to late.

I had to reinstall Windows in the middle of playing through Bioshock... Lame. Too bad Steam Cloud or whatever it's caleld wasn't out yet. That would have been very nice.
