Even the original Mortal Kombat titles up to UMK3 had pretty bad gameplay (no variety in characters besides specials and bosses), but at least there was a charm to the MK series that drew in gamers. It's kind of like the old, campy martial arts B-movies that had poor production value yet were very entertaining to watch. Once the games went 3D, everything started to go downhill very fast.

I'm looking forward to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom far more than MK vs. DC.

I am looking forward to the new one just because it gives me something new to play without having to think when I do it. I am going to agree with most though and say I am really waiting for the Capcom...that should be pretty good.
