I'd say the exact opposite. Try playing one of the old Genesis or NES games all the way through nowadays. Not so easy now, is it? I think games are being made easier these days due to the large amount of kids who play games.

my opinion is simply this

games are much more complex allowing som people to come up with was aroudn things making the game very easy (these are old school gamers)

However, some people find this Complexity harder to get used to and learn how to play properly, ending up frustrated with a game thats seemingly harder then it should be.

Thats what i think atleast. And as everyone here has said, Anyone who think's that ANy game today is difficult, then go Fire up Empire Strikes back on the Atari and then tell me of difficulty!

I KNOW that video games are becoming more 'realistically difficult' nowadays.

Lets take Street Fighter 2 as a perfect example. That game would be difficult by cheating it's ass off. Ryu and Ken could use light kicks on you so fast that it would drain half your energy, Dalsim could noogie half your life off, Zangief could do a pipedriver from anywhere on the screen, Guile could throw 2 sonic booms on the screen at a time and could do his special kick without holding down for 2 seconds and ALL of the characters would respond instantly to what button you pressed so they could counter your move before you could do it...etc,etc

The game allowed for things that the computer could do that the player never could. Nowadays i see far less of that. I see more 'realistic difficulty' in that the game models what another good player might do or catch up on.

Also, the games themselves seem to have gotten more balanced. A lot of times there isn't a omnipotent player who is heads and shoulders better than the others ( a la ken or ryu )

On the flip side, programmers have gotten a lot better so you don't see lots of 'loopholes' you can exploit like being ken or ryu and standing jumpkicking Zangief to a perfect win every single time.

If you think rap sucks or isn't "real music", quit being pretentious and go sample something that isn't on the radio:
De La Soul, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Brand Nubian, Canibus, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Gang Starr, Digital Underground, Kanye West, etc.

Better yet, try to make a 4 minute spoken word poem read to a beat that doesn't suck or sound corny if you think hip hop has no talent.

IMO a big reason for games getting easier is the shift they've undergone over the last decade. Video games have a huge demographic now, everyone games even my grandparents have a Wii. They're also a way for most to relax instead of being bragging rights for the elite.

Games are filled with all sorts of auto-aim, cover systems.. To top it off they're shorter than ever.

Hand these guys a platformer from the 80's or early 90's and ask them if they think current games are difficult.

If anybody uses auto-aim on a PC game then they need to go back to Xbox, sorry.

Games aren't really getting harder.. just more complex. There are over 200 ways to get from point A to point B in games like Crysis..
