Default 360 GH World Tour, Rock Band instruments 'totally compatible'

Quote:
Second, and perhaps more importantly, he said that not only will Guitar Hero World Tour support instruments from rival Rock Band, but Neversoft had programmed the game to recognize and adjust for them.

"We use a five channel input, and we've engineered the game to sense when you plug in a Rock Band drum set and switch to a four-channel input," he said, referring to the descending note scheme used in the game. "The orange cymbal input in Guitar Hero [World Tour] automatically becomes the green fill or the blue pad on the Rock Band drum set, depending on what works best with the song. You don't even have to think about it."
Source

What a completely unexpected and pleasant surprise! After the programmed incompatibility in Guitar Hero 3, that Activision tried to justify as "we spent money on developing this, why shouldn't we make our money back", this total 180-degree reversal is welcome and excellent news for consumers. I had previously stated that there was little chance I would buy GH4 because I wasn't going to buy another set of drums; well, now it's probably back on my XMas list! Kudos, Activision.

You know what would be awesome? If Acti-Blizzard created a little song for Guitar Hero/Rock Band relating to Starcraft characters singing something. (Like the 12 days of Christmas)

Well that's definitely really good news for those that don't want to have two "band" setups taking up space in their house.

I hope the GH World Tour drums work for Rockband 2. If they do here's my plan: I don't currently have a console or any of these games but I want them, so through several purchases (since I'm too broke to do it at once) I'll get Rockband 2 with a guitar, then get another Rockband guitar, then get GH world tour with the drums .
