And things like this is why Valve can do no wrong. They release Half Life Source as kind of an afterthought, and then Black Mesa comes along actually embarrassing them a bit and they ask how they can help out. They don't worry for a second about the "integrity" of their intellectual property, instead they say that they "want to play it." Instead they seem to realize that if their IP has integrity, it will survive just fine.

And then this guy comes along. He's talented, so their reaction is to hire him. This isn't the first time that they've rewarded modders with employment, and somehow I doubt that it will be the last.
