The end is nigh.....

I must admit, the lighting effects do look better in DX10.
Damn, I gotta have me this game. The first one was amazing! DX10 was never about textures, it was about the lighting and the smoke. Look at the quality of the lighting in the DX10 sky compared to the DX9 sky. And yes, this is the prequel ![]()

I'm still not that impressed by DX10. So, it made the sky around the sun brighter, and overall made the scene brighter, while still keeping the darker shadowing. I'm not dazzled.

It's not earth shattering but I think we're getting to a point where getting incredibly better looking graphics is going to be much harder to do. Look at this compared to older games and it's amazingly better. The improvements of DX9 to 10 aren't outstanding.
Personally I think ray tracing is going to be the future of graphics. However I think that more detailed textures would help improve graphics quality. Something along the lines of the cinematic mod for HL2, which has stupidly detailed textures. Sure it might require multiple DVD's to release a game due to all the texture data but I'm pretty sure users could deal with it. Also those 2GB graphics cards would finally be useful.
