For those who care about professional gaming, this is rather interesting.
I always knew that the CGS had a draft, but never knew how it worked. Quote:
I sure know that I will be showing up for the draft for the 2009 season.

All seems a bit extreme to me. I mean i like playing competetive and all, but that is like they are trying to make it sound like olympic qualifiers or something...some kid playing a game does not compare to what a proper athlete can do, and never will imo.

I believe gaming is more of a sport than rowing or running or whatever. I think what they do in the Olympics other than like basketball and volleyball are just "activities" But what I mean is that professional gaming has more of a sport feel than the stuff they do at the Olympics.

It's exactly the same as any other sport, except you don't have to do physical training.

Because it is the physical training. Weightlifting is something you do to get yourself in shape for sports, it is not a sport itself. Swimming is also a form of exercise. I just don't see the point, except for the money.

Some use weightlifting for that purpose while others use it as a sport. I do not consider gaming at it's current state to be a sport.

I never said the activity itself was a sport, but the implementation and execution of the events feel more sport-like. If you ever watch the CGS on DirecTV you would see what I mean.

I see it exactly opposite; gaming is an activity, with competitive weightlifting, swimming, running and what have you being the real sports. I have no doubt that you may get the same adrenaline rush from fragging competitively as I do lifting weights, but you will never feel the "pump" in your biceps or the burn in your thighs as you squat twice your bodyweight or finish a 10 mile run in under an hour. In essence, you are robbing yourself of the most important part (to me, anyway) of sports; the endorphins released by physical activity, not to mention the entire physical fitness aspect. But then again, I have always been a lot better at weightlifting than competitive gaming, so you can see where my loyalties lie.

I wish they'd consider adding COD4 for the PC to their list of competitive games (if they used PAM4, ProMod, or CEVO settings, I think it'd work well).
