"Researchers who gathered in Boston for the American Psychological Association convention detailed a series of studies suggesting video games can be powerful learning tools - from increasing younger students' problem solving potential to improving the suturing skills of surgeons. One study even looked at whether playing "World of Warcraft", the world's biggest multiplayer online game, can improve scientific thinking."

I had a friend in college who never went to class because he was always playing WoW. He came on a full ride and ended up getting kicked out because of failing grades. I've never personally played the game but can it really be that addicting? To throw away a full scholarship? Anyone else have similar stories? source

I've never understood how anybody can get that addicted to WOW. I played it for 2 months and it got boring really fast....and to throw away a free ride through college for some stupid game. That's just ridiculous.
