Default [Crymod]Crysis Warhead Copy Protection FAQ

Quote:
Introduction
We're aware that many of you have concerns about the DRM protection in Crysis Warhead. There is a lot of misinformation out there and we want to take the time to clarify everything so you have all of the correct information. Due to the importance of this topic, to begin with we’ll open with a message from CEO of Crytek, Cevat Yerli.
Quote:
This system allows you to authenticate your game on five computers with the purchase of one disc – you can install your copy on each machine as many times as you want. If you go over five machines, EA Customer Service is on hand to supply any additional authorizations that are warranted.

This DRM is peanuts compared to what Spore's DRM was. As long as you can install as many times as you want - no one should have a complaint. This is about as good as it gets.

You could install Spore on the same PC as many times as you want as well.

Yes until you re-install the OS then install the game again, that counts as a fresh install. So its no different than Spore's Just has two more activations.

I hate tards on Amazon giving the game 1 star because "warhead can only be installed 3 times i". Killing PC gaming...
I say everyone on Overclock.net go out and rate the game for what its worth!

If my game that I bought for $50, doesn't work because I re-installed my OS 5 times (or purchases a new computer, or upgraded my hardware.. whatever.) I wouldn't be happy too. The Securom DRM needs to be changed to something that doesn't limit a rightful customer to the products he has purchased. (Bold and underlined so you understand).

I should NOT have to call a non toll free line and wait 15 mins on hold to use a product I legally own. (EA making MORE money from you there too -Funny how no-one even mentioned that)

I should NOT be made to feel that I am doing something wrong when quite clearly I haven't... After all I could just go and pirate the thing and then I WILL be doing something wrong, but I wont get all the hassle that a paying customer does.

Really its not Rocket Science, and EA should be rightfully blasted for this DRM.. totally. So no I dont think they are "tards" as you put it... they are standing up for consumer rights... and if thats what it takes then so be it...

Still it could be worse... they could have opted for StarForce..

You guys that are saying stuff like "Nice" and "As good as it gets" still don't seem to fully understand the DRM it uses.

Warhead may be activated a total of five times. It will require activation on first install, and then with any subsequent hardware changes as it will detect it as a new PC. It can be reinstalled an unlimited number of times on the same PC, that is, the same hardware. Reformatting or a new OS will not affect this.

But, upgrade your PC one too many times and you are still out $30 unless you can plead your case to EA.

That is unacceptable.

Now, this only applies to the boxed version. We are still unsure of the specifics on the Steam version, although we are led to believe that the same restrictions do not apply on steam according to this:
http://www.overclock.net/video-game-...ml#post4566607

Unless the Steam rep is mistaken, the Steam version can be installed on an unlimited number of PCs, but must be deactivated on the old PC and reactivated on the new PC.

Ok please any of you, show me a link describing the kind of hardware change that will cancel out one of the installs.

Where did you read it? Or do you own the game and tried upgrading and you ran out of installs?

If you are so passionate about this, surely you must have some more knowledge about this issue than me.

So link me up.
