Staring at TV screens is often linked to couch-potato weight gain and other unhealthy results, and video games have gotten lumped in.
Likely because when you're watching TV, you're free to eat, but when gaming your hands are busy.

When I'm on the comp, I tend not to eat for long periods.

when I sit on the comp for too long, my butt tends to hurt, forcing me to get up once in a while

watching TV, I normally just fall asleep or eat a snack on rare occasions that i do watch TV

However, hunger is one thing that consumes my gaming attention and I cannot ignore the hunger.

Yet, even given this people who sit in front of a computer (atleast in my case) are looked down upon.

I pay room&board and live in my friends basement with his family, and I know his mom thinks I am lazy and don't have a life for spending a big portion of my time in this chair... what she doesn't seem to account for is she watches TV more than I am at a computer. It's so hypocritical its not even funny. Ontop of the 20hrs of computer games I play each week and full time work, I find time to ride my bike for a minimum of ~2hrs a day, and party it up every weekend (recent ticket for being drunk in public lol).

When I meet people I usually don't bring up computers at all - most automatically assume you're the generic 'nerd'. Only after they get to know me will I point out or let them notice my habits... by then (just as FreeRoller said) they don't expect it.

I mean, who could actually have fun with computers and have a life at the same time?

The feeling I get from a hard-fought flag or point capture is very similar to the feeling I get from a good workout. It's a good feeling.

I understood what you were getting at after your first post, why are some people taking it the wrong way? People usually have warped perceptions about themselves and many times anonymous surveys are worth only as much as hw well you know the people who answered. For all you know, I could be an Olympic athlete, which would be a bold face lie but that's the point, you don't know how honest each person was when answering these kinds of polls. *shrug* no matter.

I would say cars are more of a reason for obesity than video games but that is just my opinion. I love my Honda Accord though!
