Default [PS3Fan]EA Uses Blu-Ray Space For Demos with Dead Space

Quote:
Being one of the biggest publishers in the world has its advantages. One of these advantages, particularly in EA's case, is being able to pull from their catalog of games for extra content. For example, the PS3 version of Dead Space comes with two demos for other EA titles: Burnout Paradise and Battlefield: Bad Company. These demos are accessible from the XMB, where two Blu-ray discs will appear once you insert the Dead Space disc. One for the game itself and the other titled "EA Demos."

These demos need to be installed, but can be run without having the disc in the drive. In other words, it saves you having to download. Not exactly a selling point, but definitely a clever way for EA to leverage their other publishing properties.
Source

Resourceful. You got like 40-44GB of space left on a disc. It would be stupid to not fill it in somehow. EA thought it would be good to use that space to promote their other games - very smart indeed.

Hardly a new trend.

EA did this on the PS2 with a lot of their titles, and I know others did it too. Still, better than wasted space.

while not a new trend, a smart idea anyway since they are the first to do it with the PS3.

Is this along the lines of the disc that came with Zone of Enders that let you play through the tanker level of MGS2? I thought it was cool back then so sure why not?

Yeah, 40-44GB left if it's a dual-layer disc. Most games out on the PS3 are single layer.

nahhh

its not like its reading the data unless you access it. i mean it reads it once obviously. wont affect the game itself though.

and as it says the demos dont play off the disc. its just the install files located on there.
