are they just testing it for bugs and working out the kinks by now?
from all the screenshots and different maps, it looks very near to completion.

TBH, there are plenty of great games out. And even if it hurts me, I'd rather the mod developers do their BEST, rather than release soemthing they aren't happy with.

Today's screenshots, I would hate to be close range with that 2x AC 20 variant! Can you say 'shredded armor':

Those Variants are just plain mean.
As far as the mod release, the stated message from the MWLL devs is that they have had a working alpha for a while and they are starting a closed beta. After they have had time to test the closed beta and fix bugs with the mod, then they will release the open beta. From what I can get from their messages and postings, it would appear that most of the combat system looks to be in good shape. Their problems seem to be interface and bug issues. Not too long ago they released a video showing their customizable weaponry. The problem, they stated, was that the interface you use to see your changes rendered in the game engine was not available. Also, according to their site, the only people they really need for mod work are animators, level designers, and flash programmers. My best guess is that they will start a closed beta to work out bugs and around beginning of march will release an open beta that will run properly, if lacking in some features. But this is all speculation, I personally have no ties to their team. If you want to ask them about it, make an account and post something on their forums on their site.

Neutrino, I wonder how they will finish the damage indicator/damage display. I wonder if they will do like the previous models with an image of the mech with arms/Left torso/etc.. or if it will just be a bar display. I know on that one image they had the bars... I guess it comes down to the interface they decide on..
__________________I have always preferred stock variants in old mw4/mw3 matches to be honest. In the novels and technical readouts, the older battlemechs could not change weapon loadouts, they only could have the weapons that it came with. It wasn't until the Clans invading and the Omni-mechs being designed by the Inner Sphere States that the playing field was even. Also having the stock matches you don't have to worry about mech-boats, though it did have its fun. I'm just glad we are finally seeing on the outward appearance in the battlemechs change when weapons are changed, it adds the extra bit of realism to the game. I'd like to see a mod team re-do or mod something for mechcommander, the first was actually a darn good game. I would like to see more detail, maybe not even the graphics, but the actual game content go more in depth! That would be very interesting indeed!

Or..........
http://battlemechhanger.com/home.htm I cant believe there r 25 pages of posts and no mention of BattleMechHanger, this mod is based on 2142 and is in alpha testing phase, you can order a disk and start playing (testing). BUT there are less then a 100 disks left for the alpha so hurry! And nobody has claimed the Kell Hounds yet Last edited by beatnik : 01-05-09 at 05:38 PM |
