This mod IS the reason i bought Crysis. It's been in development since December last year that I am aware of. This Mod is the closest thing to MW5 that we will get. It's deffintley worthy of the title from the looks of it. It will be more than a Mech piloting sim combining Infantry, elementals, vehicles, tanks and aircraft in conjunction with the actual mechs.
Quote from thier website.
"Take control of over 28 unique Battlemechs, 4 unique Tanks, 6 original ground vehicles and 8 different types of aircraft including vtol's."

Check this video, while hardly any mechs can be seen at this point, it was released in February of this year, very early in devolpment.

I'd say that's a good thing, wouldn't you? I know I'd die a little inside if I saw Mechwarrior 5: Coming to 360/PS3 November 2009 (PC port will follow with gimped controls sometime in 2010).

I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I am going to make a prediction here. If they make this mod as good as I think they will, then this will push up sales of Crysis considerably. I call it the 'Desert Combat' effect. EA came out with a decent game in BF1942, but the Desert Combat mod pushed it to the next level. And I'm sure quite a few sales of BF42 were to people who just wanted to play DC. Now EA has once again come out with a decent game in Crysis, (Crysis haters notwithstanding) and this Mechwarrior mod looks like it will be even more fun than Crysis itself. Figure in the fact that there is already a big player base of Mechwarrior fans, and this mod might be wildly popular. (Again, assuming they do a good job on it...Desert Conflict looked like it would be cool mod for BF2 and the devs screwed it all up with poor weapon balance...)

Dang, I really hope they don't screw this mod up...Battlemech action with such beautiful graphics as Cryengine 2 can deliver would be, well, just tasty.
