I've got faith in the crew. Well managed, should be released in the not so distant future! I know my system will be ready for it!

chances are, if this finishes I won't ever touch plain old Crysis and just play this all the time haha

I could agree with that, i suspect i'd try crysis but probably get bored and go back to MWLL. I am very much looking forward to this and i'm also going to have to make sure i have the hardware to play it.

Some of my favorite things i've heard from it are the customization of the mechs mentioned in the latest video, the fact they they are rewriting the flight physics for the aerospace element, and the fact that the engine will allow truly enormous environments. I've been waiting so long for a mech game that includes all elements of the battletech universe. The only thing it seems to be missing is warship battle but that another thing entirely and while cool, would be more appropriate for a space game mod.

One thing i'm wondering about this is how big would a server be. I mean if a Trial of Anhilation server world map could be 60 kilometers across, it sounds like you could easily fit 128 players if not 256 or 512; throw in the long server time limit and it sounds like you could have a full scale war going on over a whole saturday or something.

Quote:
Due to the unique factor of the time in each game. Depending on the servers' settings, a game could last as long as ten real hours! (Keyword: Could) With the dynamic day/night cycles in MWLL, it's possible that the player could be playing on the same map during the day and under the stars!
PS: please read the link before commenting on it, there is a lot of information about that game mode there.

I think it comes down to technology and bandwidth issues. Everyone who runs crysis will not have a top of the line system to handle that much data/information coming and going with such large scale battles. Though I am all for massive battlemech action, imagine regimental sized units going toe to toe with aero cover.

The second being bandwidth, with so much info and data going too and from you would need large amounts of speed on the lines to do such.

I think they already discusses this, the graphics are not going to be full blown on the engine too allow most to play with decent FPS. I'm sure in the future that can be changed.

Default Time to start watching for MWLL

These are a few posts on a couple of MWLL theads by some of their developers about the release date.

Quote:
We're still aiming for a December release, whether it be beta, or full release. Btw, we don't have wordfilters, it's ****, not S!@#.
Quote:
Regardless if we're done or not with the mod, we're still releasing something (aka beta). So regardless if you're pessimistic you should still be expecting something this december.

Sounds like a good idea for an advent calendar. I'll look into getting something like that ready starting December 1st.
AoP (Lead Developer) 2nd page

So basically there will be a beta or initial release of the mod in december no matter if they're finished or not. I have looked and none of the devs will give a specific date for release.

Now I'm going to have to check that forum daily hoping for the release. Only question now is how am I going to run the thing.

System requirements are expected to be about the same as running crysis except with more of an emphasis on system ram due to the large maps (apparently as much as 4 times the size of crysis maps) in the mod. And mod is projected to be 2 GB in size.

Here is a thread discussing system requirements.

Awesome. More RAM than Crysis... not so awesome. And here I was thinking 4GB would be fine for another couple of years.

I suspect 4 GB will be fine but I don't know how well you'd do with much less than that.

They developed the game to run on moderate systems. All the detail level/map has been tuned down a bit to allow such vast expanses. They say this detail can always be improved upon in the future, but so far the graphics looks amazing. I am awaiting word of a beta/release myself.

Though having 8gb of ddr2 1066 I don't think I'll have to worries much! haha Though having another mechwarrior/battletech game is well worth the extra cost!!

I don't notice a very significant difference in performance. Personally I run an 8800 GT 512 MB overclocked 15% with a custom config but it's roughly around high settings, and mostly sit around 30 fps. I do drop into the 5 fps range near mechs going up though. I've got a Q6600 at the stock clock which holds about a 40% load in game across all 4 cores and 4GB of 1066DDR2. 1GB of video memory isn't a waste, there are a lot of objects and textures that need to be in there, but given a choice between going from 512mb to 1gb of video or a faster gpu, the gpu will make a BIG difference.
shouldn't be too bad
