Basically an electronic gun. They file projectiles using intense magnetic fields. I guess firing plasma instead of bullets could be called a gauss cannon too.

Well one thing also, like an mod team member pointed out. Lasers and weapons that use high energy sources, ie these things run of a battlemechs 'cold fusion' reactor. So it isn't all that crazy to think that such large amounts of energy would have an effect on say a guass rifle. Also lasers are colorful, the small ones you can't see, but the larger more powerful one's you can..

Also a note too all who are interested in the 'Kell Hounds Story' I've been writing. I finally got the website and forum up online!! I will be re-doing the site to a more 'professional' look asap, but I was concentrating on the forums. Please take a look, read a few chapters and then drop by the forum and say a line or two. I would greatly appriciate the feedback from the community! Thanks!!

This goes without saying but
1. If you can't afford to lose it don't mod or OC it.
2. At least read the OP before commenting.

It only takes a few clicks to get here, not too mention a minute or two to read the posts, thats all bud... From what the mod team says, everyone will KNOW when this is released.

If you want realism you won't have any 100ton mechs walking around because they would sink into the ground to much. As far as i know gauss rifles have always looked that way in mech games so i'm not complaining.

Actually they wouldn't sink into the ground unless they where in a marshy, watery environment. Granted that depending on what weight, and foot style the battlemech would have, the battlemechs weight may make noticeable impressions in the ground.

A 70ton m1a1, on tracks doesn't leave that much on a weighted impression, this is due to the weight being distributed over the large surface space of the track.

20-100Tons may seem allot, but that weight doesn't necessarily mean size. Armor density and metal density may make up for the size.

But Sol is right, the effects have been similar for mw4. Though i did like the mw2 guass the best, you got too see the nickel plated slug fly through the air.

I am just hoping they get the sound right. I loved the sound they had for the Heavy gauss in mw4 mercs

Today's shot changes it up a little bit, instead of the ground, we go to the air!

Welcome to the opening of door #85 in MWLL's release countdown calendar. February 23rd brings a slight change: most screenshots so far have been very much ground-based, showing a lot of combat or just posing on the ground. Today's screenshot, however, shows an attack run by the Shiva, the Inner Sphere's heavy assault aerospace. The Shiva is hitting an enemy Mech with a salvo of LRMs. The location, once more, is ToA_Clearcut at night. Enjoy!
