They shouldn't have hyped it so far in advance then. Hopefully people will still be interested in it by the time it comes out.

I've been watching it still but I kinda let it drop for a while since people are getting tired of no release date. Along with that, they are making significant progress, I'll list some of the significant pics in this post, but they have not had many flashy updates. As far as a release date, they are holding firm on the pre 2010 release. Here is one long post by one dev on the release and here is another from AoP:

"If you don't set deadlines, nothing gets done." - George Burns
Rest assured that all people working on the mod have deadlines - always did - from the monthly SCRUM meetings and turns to milestones on an internal roadmap that of course includes a potential release date.
An internal release date, however, is one that can not and will not be published, because it's not going to help anyone at all.

But anyway I cant complain about the release date of free content. Imo this will be fun or it won't, there will be bugs even if you spend another 5 years on it (I hope you don't). As long the game breaking bugs are fixed quickly most people will over look the smaller ones if the game is fun.
I can only ask that people have faith in our ability to realise the difference between severe bugs and issues and minor annoyances. You need to realise that many of us have spent more than two and a half years on this mod and therefore almost see it with the loving eyes only parents have when looking at their children, so if we think certain problems are severe despite of this almost emotional bond to the mod, we are reluctant to believe the average MW-fan who's been hungry for a new MW game for such a long time will be able to ignore or just accept them without serious disappointment and that is what we're trying to avoid.

What I'd like to state is that we're still and absolutely aiming for a release in 2009 as stated in the trailer. At this time, we have no reason to believe this can't be done.
As far as what they've been doing the past 4 weeks or so, here are the main pics starting with today's pics:

Quote:
Textures done: Weapons, Mad Cat & Vulture

A lot of texture work has been done these recent weeks and some of the results are shown in the screenshot below: the Gauss rifle is no longer a black box and two very popular and iconic Clan Mechs have received their new outfits: Mad Cat/Timberwolf and Vulture/Mad Dog hail in their new shiny glory.

Quote:
Cockpit done: Inner Sphere's Owens

Not long ago we presented to you the WIP shots of the work that's being done on Owens' cockpit and while talented 3D artist Gibbage already has moved on to another cockpit, we'd like to present to you the fully textured and implemented controls and instruments. Please note though: at this time, this is decoration and not the actual HUD.

Quote:
Four Variants: IS Hawk Moth

25 tons don't sound like much for a Mech or tank, but they certainly are for a VTOL, in particular when it packs as much firepower as the Inner Sphere's Hawk Moth. All of the four variants feature missiles in one shape or another, but the additional weapons range from small beam lasers to an ER PPC or LBX10.

Quote:
New base design: SA_Inferno

-OM-Sanyassi spent quite some time on making the bases on SA_Inferno appear more realistic and actually 'populated' with the help of our environmental artists. The results of these efforts can be seen in the screenshots below.

Quote:
Four Variants: IS_Harasser

What used to be an extremely mobile and swift missile plattform, has now become a real weapons plattform: the Inner Sphere's Harasser. See below the four variants you'll find in the first public playable version of MWLL. The vehicle itself is undergoing extensive remodeling at this time, which is why the version in this screenshot does only have placeholder textures on.

New particle effects: Mech jumpjets & Aerospace engine blasts

More shiny stuff! New particle effects have been added for Mech jumpjets as well as aerospace engine blasts

Quote:
New particle effects: Mech core explosions

Exploding Mech core are supposed to be monumental and impressive, which is why they're under permanent observation and examination. The result of this process is yet another updated set of particle effects. Check them out below!

I sincerely hope they can make it pre 2010, but it looks damn good.

I'm liking the new textures on the Timber Wolf and the Mad Dog.

Why would anyone take an Awesome on a volcanic map? Regardless, it's looking freaking sweet. I hope this comes out b4 Christmas.

Cheers for that even though that was the news I wasn't looking forward to hearing.

*sigh*, I think people's patience are wearing thin because now they have moved the release date to 2010. As a result people are just going to forget about it(not myself). I just hope the release date isn't something like oh 1st of April 2010. I hope this mod is a little more explosive than mechwarrior 4. Will keep looking into this.
