Good man! ;]
Games are pirated just as often on consoles. Consoles are often easier to play pirated games on than PCs. Console games are pirated and released weeks before their actual release dates.

I don't buy into the "Pirating is ruining PC gaming" garbage when the same exact thing happens on consoles. It's just that more people game on Xbox/PS3/Wii than PC, and many of these gamers aren't as familiar with pirating as PC gamers. It is true that cross platform games sell better on the consoles, but that may be because the number of non-pirate console gamers > non-pirate PC gamers. Even if there are just as many pirates on both platforms.

The reason is irrelevant, same concept applies. Consumer ignorance is just as much a factor as the number of owners is.

i 100% agree with that statement. plus, i know that everyone i know of in my school has a modded console. even better yet, is because the companies assume you can't pirate on consoles (except for microsoft's crack down) it's even easier playing multiplayer.

Wow this game ranks higher than COD4, Crysis Warhead, Fallout 3, and a bunch of other stuff on Gamespot..
Pretty impressive for a 2 man team.

Didn't Crytek say something about a 87% piracy rate for Crysis?

no, that's a bunch of BS. it was more like 10% piracy rate. they were saying they aren't making any more pc only games (lol at warhead) just to scare us

But that's my point, it's not depriving the owner of anything. If someone doesn't have the means to buy the game, then if they download it, nothing was lost.

Also, not everyone has paypal/a credit card. How many of those downloaders were under 18, and as such, were unable to obtain the game by other means?

And $20 is a bit steep, considering Crysis: Warhead is only $30. $10 and it would have been better off, like Audio Surf or Fantastic Contraption (both of which I've bought).
So... if a "no-name developer" were to design and build the best game known to man, and it only costs $20, you wouldn't buy it because you've never heard of the company?

That's both incredibly myopic and doubly disingenuous. It upsets me that apologists of video game piracy try to portray this behavior as a victimless crime. It's pure common sense that those persons who have the financial means to afford a way to download the game in question illegally, should have the means to pay a measly $20 to be legal. If not, then they need to reevaluate their priorities. Ultimately, we're the losers here.

if they don't have the means to buy the game, and they still experience it, they owe the software maker for that experience. it's that simple.

there are certain things we pay for as an experience. going to live theater or the movies, riding a roller coaster, getting a massage, going to a concert, etc.

for things like that, the creators of that experience are not selling a tangible, boxed item. they are selling the right to enjoy that experience. we live in a society that nurtures content creators by letting them profit from the experience they craft. therefore, you pay for that experience, whether for a 1 time ticket or a DVD you can view over and over. the point is, content creation in our society relies upon compensation for the creation of that content.

therefore, since the livelihood of the content creators relies upon getting paid for each experience (this is why we have song royalties), claiming that piracy doesn't hurt content developers is a lie.

it doesn't matter whether you have money to pay for the experience - if you get to experience it, you owe the creators.
