Also, not everyone has paypal/a credit card. How many of those downloaders were under 18, and as such, were unable to obtain the game by other means?

And $20 is a bit steep, considering Crysis: Warhead is only $30. $10 and it would have been better off, like Audio Surf or Fantastic Contraption (both of which I've bought).
You're a complete moron, a dead beat in fact.

1. No name or branded name, it makes no difference. A game is a game, no one buys a game purely because of brand loyalty. That is no excuse.

2. If you don't have the means of paying, then you can't have it! It's that simple!

3. $20 is not steep at all! EA have big pockets and very experienced developers, a whole team in fact. This was two guys! They obviously put a whole lot of effort into this, just as many hours as the whole EA team in fact, yet they don't deserve the same pay? If you think $20 is steep you either need to get a job, or a better one! If you can't afford the game, you can't have it!

maybe they should bring out a hard copy soo people like me will actually beable to buy it!
1. If you don't have the means of buying it, you can't have it!

*Scenario*

You want a bottle of Coke, which costs 90p. However you have no money on your bodily person, only your debit card. However the shop doesn't accept purchases on the debit card unless it is over £2.50, what do you do? Does that really give you the right or self justification to steal the bottle of Coke? No, of course it bloody doesn't. Time to grow up.

2. A hard copy? A HARD COPY? Did you not hear them, they are indie developers. They don't have the kind of budget EA do! They can't go splashing out on all that. They would need to pay for the disc production, the purchase of cases, the case design, and the ADVERTISING. If you bring out a hard copy, you need to advertise more so that the general public is aware of this game. They don't have the money for that sort of thing.

You could have done it legitimately, with no real repercussions except for your 'street rep' but you didn't. If the obstacles were to difficult you clearly didn;t deserve it in the first place. You have no excuse.

Yea, all debit cards are accepted online. Maybe you have a card designed only for ATM's, i don't know.

They had those here, they were called Visa Electron's. However, a few years ago, shops started accepting them as payment.

It's sad how the companies that can afford the time and money that goes into creating and maintaining copy protection are the companies that produce games which I'm curious about yet have such a high chance of being crappy that I certainly wouldn't pay $50 to try it (*cough* farcry 2 *cough*)

Whereas those WHO can't afford the time and money that goes into copy protection, yet actually make an AWESOME, WELL THOUGHT OUT and WELL PRICED game are the ones who get screwed over

I'm almost pro-DRM now because of this! As of now, I vow to not pirate a game if I'm curious about... I'll base it on reviews and if those don't sell me, I'll just use jedi mind tricks to get a friend to buy it and try it that way

no you wouldnt, you're still cheap and dont deserve it. this proves the point i always make that you cant justify piracy...coz no matter what as long as there are the means, people will do it. even if the game cost $4.99.

only $20? hell, I'm pre-ordering L4D tomorrow, I'll buy this next paycheck, good or bad, I want to help em out >.>

doesn't matter if your card is accepted or not. If you don't have the means to buy a $20 game or a $50 you don't have any right in anyway shape or form to steal, so stop trying to justify your left.

I'm pretty sure they would pirate it no matter what the price or the developer...That's how pirates do.

I played the demo of this game, and it was fun and cool, but didn't seem like it'd hold my attention enough to buy it. For games like this, where they release a full featured demo that gives you the whole first world, there's no excuse to pirate it. And I'm definitely not one to usually side with the 'piracy is wrong' group, especially when EA puts out absolutely broken games all the time(like NHL09 for 360), and companies like adobe charge out the ass for things like photoshop every year, that basically have no changes for 5 years.

It does suck to hear numbers like this, but I can believe that a large majority of people playing it do pirate it, partly because its such a small game to download.

porky-For your debit card, if it doesn't have a visa/mastercard symbol, its just an ATM card. A credit debit card will start with a 4 if its visa or 5 if mastercard, and have 16 digits. If it's not that, go to a bank/grocery store/gas station and pickup a prepaid visa/mastercard/amex. You load it with however much $, then can use it where ever those cards are accepted. Sometimes theres a fee involved, but it works. You might even be able to find a prepaid $25 or $50 card without a fee.

Where the hell do they get these figures from? More scaremongering bullcrap.

I've never even played it. It looks like some crappy game. When it's on sale at Steam, I'll get the demo. If there is a demo. But as of right now I've not even bothered to pirate it.
