Wow. I saw a few friends playing it on their laptops at school recently, but I got the impression that it was free or something. I guess that just goes to show how bad the piracy really is.
![]() If I ever find the time to play it, I'll definitely pay for it on Steam or something like that. These guys deserve the money. It looks like an awesome game!

Here is what I got out of this thread.
- Porky, since you didn't pay the $20 for the game, you should instead invest that $20 in writing lessons. - People seem to think it is okay to pirate big name companies but not the small guys. I don't see the difference? - People seem to think that DRM would some how solve this problem. It wouldn't. Why? Because DRM costs the developer more to implement and it is pretty obvious that DRM doesn't stop mass piracy (Google Spore Torrent). I don't pirate because I morally object to it, I don't want the security risks of torrent-based downloads, and I don't want the hassle. However I don't think it is wrong to pirate software and it wasn't illegal until the DMCA. I do think it is wrong to pirate a game for a profit, I.E. you plan on reselling it. Why don't I think it is wrong to pirate software for personal use? Because copyrights only restrict you from copying for profit, not copying for personal use. Apple may hold a patent on the iPhone, but I could reverse engineer and make an identical copy of the iPhone without violating Apple's copyright or patents. Now if I try to take this reverse engineered iPhone and sell it, then I am subject to lawsuit. The DCMA is legistation that was made possible by the "Industrial Complex" using big bucks to influence corrupt politicians. I often have to resort to illegitimate means of playing a game that I legitimately purchased (Crysis) because of the DRM.

And Porky my friend. Go to freakin walmart, and buy a VISA giftcard! Wallah! You ALL OF A SUDDEN can make payments online with it, and if you need more money on it, just go recharge it.. Seriously.. There is NO reason to pirate a game at all especially when you try to justify it that you could never buy it anyways, when you could have.

Frankly, just because people are downloading it, doesn't mean they'd buy it. I'd bet you if piracy dissapeared overnight, they might see 5% more sales or less.
Doesn't make it right, just saying. Quote:
Not to mention, how can you attest to how many people are downloading? Sure, 500 people might be downloading, but then what if they stop halfway? Plus, how do you count them next time, IP? Most people these days have dynamic IP adresses, which can change day-to-day. I'll bet you these figures are inflated at best, and downright incorrect is more likely. As someone who plans to be a programmer and run a company, I personally will be affected by piracy in the future. I see it as something that can't be stopped, and instead embraced and worked around. Piracy is never going to stop. DRM doesn't work. There is a better way. I'd also like to note this is clearly just a story for free advertising.
