Two weeks isn't enough to know jack about that game...need more like six months. Anyway, if he praises a game, I will look into it usually. He hypes up the issues in a game so much, that if he doesn't find any that is something to note.

Hese a pretty funny guy, but I definitely don't use his reviews as a ground for recommendation. I played pain killer previously, and thought it was garbage.

i find that i already own the games Yahtzee reviews, its just funny to see the negative take on them, since most of the time its true, doesnt make me love the game any less.
to be honest i dont think he ever intended to influence game sales, he's just a paid writer/journalist or whatever his title may be, that took the path of negative game reviewing, making very good and reasonable points but expanding on them adding comical satire. i believe his intentions were to provide required insight into a game, from his own point of view, using a "im saying what you're all thinking" tactic then making it funny. if he wasnt funny, no one would watch his reviews anyway, he'd get slammed by the gaming nerds of the world for having no idea. coz he makes it so funny, we then warm to him and realise he is making some pretty valid points. to base your purchase on his reviews in my opinion, is stupid. nearly every single game he's reviewed, that i've owned, i've agreed with all his negatives. needless to say, i still love every one of those games that he hated.

As one who worships the ground the man walks on, a few things to point out about Yahtzee
i.) He doesn't buy the games he reviews. It's very, very, very easy to be brutally objective about something in which you have no personal stake. True, it's what makes him great; but it also means flaws a lot of people are more than willing to overlook get the third degree in the context of his reviews. ii.) He's British. The most absurd grammatical mistakes or the most base vulgarities take on a sort of Old-World charm with the addition of an English accent. And the little quirks like "lads," "bloody," "chips," while entirely mundane and uninteresting is the rest of the english-speaking world, carry a weird kind of endearing tone when spoken by an Englishman. An American rambling on as he does would just seem pretentious in a none-to-subtle way. iii.) His reviews are not meant to inform the consumer. Most other reviews give you a very detailed analysis of the experience and, for the most part, give the "average-joe" gamer a pretty good idea of what to expect. This is not what Zero Punctuation does. It is entertainment. Good entertainment, but unsubstantial. It's like a piece of candy; wildly fun but wholly unnecessary. If you take his word on what to invest your gaming dollars on, all you'll be left playing is Portal, Painkiller, and Fantasy World Dizzy, and if you have some spare Paper Mario I and Psychonauts. A couple of those games deserve playing. Others deserve to be remembered from you probably already having played them. The rest - that is to say Fantasy World Dizzy - are unimportant because as Yahtzee has already told us, nostalgia shouldn't be trusted.
