Vista SP1 is faster than XP for games. It is truly good for games now, especially the 64 bit version.

that's not what i am trying to say.

there's some really annoying halo floating around windows 7 and it's getting extremely irritating

fact of the matter is, there are those pre windows 7 who argued that Vista was fine. and now it's these same people that are behaving as though 7 is the best thing since air, when all 7 is is a GUI overhaul at best, with a few performance improvements. Drivers or not, there is not really any difference with windows 7 and games, and nothing fundamentally better than what vista has. in fact i dare say it's WORSE.

yeah, worse. i had issues with Fallout 3 not installing a link in my start menu, and also it would not agree that i had had saves in there even though i put them there manually. nor was there a Games explorer link. same thing happened (re games explorer) with Company of Heroes. we all know what happens with GTA IV. i know it's a beta BUT, considering how similar they are (drivers work in vista and in 7 for crying out loud) then i expect compatibility with most things that work in Vista.

windows vista is fine for games, and once windows 7 gets its drivers sorted, windows 7 will be fine for games. not miraculously better, just incrementally better. how these people come to the conclusion that it is 'great' is beyond me

You don't want a tech website...you want my results? I don't have XP anymore; it is impossible to use after using Vista for a while. And by the way, what facet of Vista annoys you?

Doesn't matter how good Win7 is for gaming, the game developers are slowly abandoning the PC platform.

Too much hype. It'll be released, then a flood of updates will follow, like any other Windows OS. It won't be "perfect" -- just less imperfect than previous Windows versions. Vista is perfectly fine right now though, it's not 2006 anymore. Funny how people still try and bring up Vista's problems (from 2006), and pass them off today as "why Vista sucks". Just stupid aging cliches -- like the MAC commercials keep sticking too, as if there "haven't" been any updates to Vista since it's release .

Game developers are just afraid of piracy.

Most pirates are just people who wouldn't have bought the game anyway, because they either don't care enough to or don't have the means.

Even saying it's 'less imperfect' than previous versions is a stretch. I picked up an old copy of a PC Magazine the other day (found it while cleaning out a closet) and saw an article spanning 15 pages explaining WHY YOU NEED VISTA NOW!, heralding all its awesome features and proclaiming XP's demise, citing beta experience.

Truth is we won't know until we get the FULL version and have time to see how well it breaks while doing normal stuff.
