Default [GameIndustry]Windows 7 Will Be "Great For Games"

Quote:
No more slowdowns, no more issues, faster than XP in the majority of games? That's the claim from Microsoft's Chris Lewis:

"Windows 7 will be great for games, undoubtedly," he said. "It's all good news - it's even more robust, it's quicker relatively, and the early testing cycles are proving very promising overall.
"I think it'll be nothing but good news for PC gamers, but we'll have more to say on that later on this year," he added.

"Ultimately we're a Windows and PC company at heart, and that's not going to change, and the development on both platforms will remain central and important. The business ebbs and flows, and there will be times when we do more on one platform than the other, but they do co-exist very nicely, and as a company we're in a pretty unique position that we have a strong legacy on PC."

I hope so...But... then again there are far more consoles games this year than PC games

I don't think this year though. 2009 doesn't seem to be the year for the PC. Only a handful of titles which will be good to play. I hope I am totally wrong though.

I don't think he is talking about the actual OS mate(Neither am I). I talking about just in general of what games does the PC platform have to offer us.
You will see that in terms of the ratios. PC games have been far less than console games this year.

A lot of the AAA titles haven't come to PC. One thing I would like to request, is that developers stop blaming piracy for their poor sales. Some how WOW continues to dominate the PC market.

Thats not the point.
Right now, the Windows 7 Beta put alot of gamers down because of slightly bad performance. Not everyone understands the "beta drivers" concept.

Too bad Nvidia is still making terrible drivers. Four BSODs so far that were caused by them.

I was talking about the OS due to the nature of the article. But, If it keeps up the way it is headed it'll be quite good for games. As far as games this year, I agree, it's going to be quite a drop sadly. As for developers blaming piracy, if YOU were the company doing poorly in sales, would you rather place the blame on something like piracy, or acknowledge that you as part of that company as a whole have altogether failed making a great selling game? Many are quite ignorant when it comes to acknowledging poor sales due to their own moves. Piracy will always be around, as will people/companies who blame lack of sales of any object or property they own.

QFT. In most of the threads here about Windows 7 problems and such, I've noticed some people go off their rockers in rants about it... they need to realize that ITS A BETA, not the final release candidate and that this is what Beta testing exists for. To sort out as many kinks, bugs, etc out of something before its released. Seeing as Windows 7 is supposedly going to be out "before the holiday season 2009" I feel that leaves quite a huge gap of time to work out many of the various problems users may be experiencing with the beta which Microsoft have no doubt taken notice to as well in their own testing.

/end mini-rant

what I think most win7 fanboys dont realize is that Win7 would have to be pretty close to vista deep down for vista drivers to work.

People saying its miles ahead of vista dont realize that [to me atleast] Win7 is just vista with a dock menu under a different name.
