Cant you pop the cartridge open, remove the old battery [by breaking the solder] and solder a new one in?

This is a remake. Do you know what that is? Its when they take the game, completely revamp it to modern graphics, sound, and usually additional changes like additional story/gameplay maybe new Pokemon.

This is not "lets take Pokemon Gold and Silver and stick it on the DS without any new functionality whatsoever".
Sorry to jump on you - but that is just a horrible and stupid comparison. XD
uhhh i don't really understand what you mean?
All i said is that i will be playing this game...

The original 151 still strike a harmonious chord in my mind, despite having played at least one game from each generation in their entirety. I'm emulating Platinum for the moment, though I'm likely to enjoy Heart Gold/Soul Silver more so than the 3rd and other 4th generation games. I'd like to face Ash's level 81 Pikachu with something fresh, assuming they keep that aspect of the games.

That'll be a good discussion tomorrow....
Are you serious? That problem has been around since the NES days.

Yes, that can be done. There was a service like that back in the days, don't know if it's still around now, where you ship your old SNES games back, pay a fee and they install a new battery for you.
