"Why does everyone ask about Chrono Trigger?" he laughed. We told him it's a very loved series. "That's not what the sales tell me!" he responded.

"If people want a sequel, they should buy more!"

Although, he should really look into the fact that no one likes buying a game that they already have on SNES, PSX, and now NDS. Now if they make a new Chrono series game....I'm all in with bells, whistles, and whatever girl I happen to have at that time.

While that's true Kamui, the sales weren't as good as they could of been. A whole new generation of gamers has come around. Some that were born around the time of Chrono Trigger's release. It's my favourite game of all time and you can be damn sure I bought a copy. In fact it's in my DS sitting next to me right now. It's such a loved game and has aged really well. I wish more people bought it. Despite what most people thought, Chrono Cross was a fantastic game. Not the calibre of CT but that's a damn high bar to try to reach.

I think people definitely want more Chrono. Hell, SE themselves shut down two extremely promising fan-made Chrono games, one very recently that was like days away from completion.

Besides, I think a new Chrono game would sell like hotcakes, regardless of how a remake sold.

Hell, I wouldn't consider it a remake. Just a port. Even if there was like a little bit of added content or slightly improved graphics - it's more of like a remastered version then a remake.

Square has potential to make tons of money between FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, and chrono trigger remakes or sequels. Why they haven't done anything already is beyond me. Any sane person would do it in a heart beat if it meant millions of $.

I'm glad they didn't remake CT. I'm glad they did what they did. They left it alone, improved the translation and added some new items and all of the awesome stuff in the PSX version. It's the definitive version.

They remade it, everyone loved it, then they went and threatened legal action against an amazing fan-made sequel that was basically completed.

If wasn't playing it on my iPod touch I would probably be looking at getting a DS.

That's true. However, when you release a game and don't advertise it to the other sets of gamers in the world, you're pretty much relying on the old school gamers to keep the franchise alive. If it weren't for the fact that EGM did a small review of the remake on the NDS, I would have never known about it. If it weren't for the fact that it had the word "Final Fantasy" on Final Fantasy Chronicles, I would have never known it was on PSX. Although, majority of these games sales come from Japan anyway but still they could have at least put some effort into at least having website or some other form of online advertisement.
