From the article...

"To help keep children fit, many schools are discovering computer and video "exergames," which promote increased activity and generate excitement."

When I was in high school, we called that football/baseball/soccer/basketball/dodgeball whatever. And it was a hell of a lot cheaper than an 'exergame'.

It wouldn't be quite so bad if you didn't see some of the tax legislation mulling around Washington these days. I am a tax accountant and we get information regarding a bunch of new proposals related to taxation all the time. There are a significant number of new taxing proposals floating around to pay for the healthcare stuff that is being brought up in Washington.

Essentially anything the government/administration/congress is flagging as "non-healthy" behavior gets thrown into the pot for a new tax. They are already considering raising beer/wine/liquor taxes significantly and "sugar sweetened drinks" are on the list as well to have a potential tax added. If they throw video games into the list... who knows, maybe they'll add a video games tax too?

I'm not saying it's going to happen, but there's a bunch floating around up there.

Almost everything should be taxed then.

Cars are unhealthy, you could be walking or biking to work! Drive a car? FAT TAX!

Microwaves are unhealthy, almost everything microwaveable is unhealthy. Own a microwave? FAT TAX!

Grocery stores promote laziness! Back in the day, you had to hunt and/or farm for your food! That was a good workout. Grocery stoes are unhealthy. Go to a grocery store? FAT TAX!
