I think Republic will do as well as every mmo to come out since WoW combined, which still won't put a dent in WoW. I think there are a lot of people just like me who played SWG when it was good and miss it, love Bioware, and are sick of fantasy mmo's and can't wait to get back in space.

Aion is not that bad, kinda wow like, but its missing additions to key things that I think could be more indepth, i.e, no skill point progression trees

Also I just want a well populated game, where I can group have fun, and have a decent leveling pace, as well as a good gear system, the one were you can calculate things and know what defense actually does.

Most of that wow has, but its been around way 2 long
Got sick of it, I need something new and fresh

LOTRO is still a big contendor. However, if Turbine continues driving away it's casual userbase in favor of the grind-loving one, they'll suffer the same fate as the rest of the ones you mentioned.

I've played Aion quite a bit the past month. It's not Lineage II with wings. Its not a grind-fest. It is a bit simplistic, and the lack of a skill point system may be a problem, but I have yet to see that far into the game. The American Beta only has allowed up to level 20, so I have not tried out the Abyss (the PvP area) but I've duelled a few times and it seems like the system is solid.

The Beta I have played is apparently a patch or two behind. Apparently in release it will by Aion 1.2 or 1.3. There are a few things that aren't in beta that will be in release.

I played in the Closed Beta #3 myself this weekend. It's actually pretty fun. Didn't get too far in it, however, so I'm reserving judgment (especially concerning the Abyss which will get more focus in future Beta Events).

They should release a new MMORPG to replace WoW, or WoW2. If you want to beat a game fresh off the lot, you can't really do it with a game as old as WoW.

Aion just looks like FFXI but prettier. I'm sure it plays different but there's no mistaking it's a straight rip from the Final Fantasy universe, art wise.
