actually it was kinda the other way around. the first one was ridiculously bad and pretended to be loyal to the subject matter. the second one was in some ways similar but a big improvement. and the third one went off on its own accord.

the problem is with these movies. they need to decide whether they are following the main series or not. because there are similarities of named characters throughout the movies. but thats where it seems to end. from that point the movies do as they please.

if it wasnt called resident evil it would be a more respectable series for these reasons. so for those who have never played the games the appeal is stronger for them. which is mostly the only reason why they make enough money to bring out yet another one.

Oh no, I dont have a problem with her or the zombie kicking. I have a problem with the title of the movie - RESIDENT EVIL.
Honestly, how they got the rights to call these movies Resident Evil. I don't know because it is not Resident Evil.

The problem with Milla is that she is just some random character with some random plot that they decided to slap on the title "Resident Evil". Milla doesn't assume a roll that is even existent in the Resident Evil plot or even the documents that surround the game and add other events that happened additional to the games.

It's kind of like Resident Evil 5.
The ONLY similarities and connects to series are the names of some of the characters.
Resident Evil 5 managed to keep *some* of the plot integrity, not to mention it was enjoyable.

The Resident Evil movies on the other hand - you might as well throw up some random name and it would stick. Only people who've played the games would know it was based off Resident Evil in some sick twisted way.
The only things that make these movies "Resident Evil" are the following: Umbrella , the T-Virus, and Racoon City.

That's it.
This idiot of a film writer and director disregarded ANY and ALL plots from
Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, 3, and now 5.

Because the infection started from The Hive - they've automatically killed off plots from Resident Evil 0, 1, and 2.
Because the only similarities to "Resident Evil" in Apacolyspe were the names of Jill, Carlos, Nemesis, the other Umbrella soldiers, the professor, and the professor's daughter - they killed the plot of Resident Evil 3 and Code Veronica.

I know that game based adaptions shouldn't recreate the game word for word. But I've yet to see a game that does actually follow the game forumula or take it and do something marvelous with it.
If you're going to make a movie based off a game - it is required that they follow the basic plot at MINIMUM otherwise it may as well be some no-name movie.

Silent Hill was the only movie based on a game movie I've seen that managed to follow the basic plot and tweak it. It might have tweaked it a little TOO much but it was sufficient enough to make it a decent movie imo.

Resident Evil movies may as well be titled "Alice in Hell" or something stupid like that. They've disregarded the plots and the characters COMPLETELY as if they're not even making a movie based on it. Hell - the characters that do exist such as Carlos, they didn't even bother trying to make him similar to his game counterpart. In the game, he's a Spanish influenced hot shot guy. In the movie, he's some American white-as-a-ghost guy who looks like he should be in a movie like Mission Impossible. Hell, they didn't even bother to include any of the UBS guys like Mikhail or Nikolai - they just killed them all off at the beginning like they had nothing to do with the game - yet in the REAL plot they were the driving force behind it. Hell, you might as well go as far as calling Nikolai the protagonist of Resident Evil 3.

And now, for second I actually thought we'd be seeing a movie that had some kind of relationship with Resident Evil 4 - they're going to TOKYO and ALASKA.
Of which, only Alaska has had any plot relation to Resident Evil. And even then, it's IMPOSSIBLE for the movie to use anything related to that plot because they've already disregarded it in the previous movie.

Oh, and what I mean by there is no chance of seeing Resident Evil 5 now somehow take place is because RE5 wouldn't have taken place without key events in Resident Evil 3. Because the events of Resident Evil 0,1,2,3 could never take place in the movie's plot, there cannot be RE5's plot unless they twist it.

I garuntee "Afterlife" is going to open really really stupid with like 20 clones of the same hot girl kicking zombie ass on the streets of Tokyo. Ok - thats cool and all, but why is this movie called Resident Evil again? Oh yeah, I forgot, because it the names Umbrella, T-Virus, and Racoon City involved. Oh wait, scratch that, Racoon City is gone. -.-

Do I think the movies are necessarily bad? No. I actually kinda liked 1 and 2 (3, not so much). But, did I enjoy Resident Evil is the question? No. Did I enjoy the movies I watched? Yes.

Mila Jovovich ruined the Resident Evil series. All of the films have been utterly rubbish.

It's also no surprise she is writing herself epic RE roles now she's exec producer.

Anyway, I'd rather shave my balls than watch this new RE film.

I do recall hearing somewhere from the internets that actual zombies (ala 1-3) might be making a return to the series for the next game. I reeeeeally hope so. eff the whole plagas thing. I want to bust zombie ass.
