yeah i thought so.

but with GTA4 im pretty sure its actually true. i said 680 or something but apparently its 640 then upscaled.

Yeah I know this.

Grand Theft Auto IV = 1152x640 on the PS3

But what he was saying is a completely different story all together. It had nothing to do with set resolutions like that. He was saying if you force it to run in 1080p, it will run in 1080p (at least what I get from reading his post) - which is false. It will simply upscale or scretch the next lowest resolution which in most cases ~should~ be 720p or that 640p a la GTA4.

I know what you're saying but I was talking about how games like Burnout Paradise would take 480p and stretch it to 1080p if 720p was disabled. It was an error in the game, which they later patched.
