Default [Kotaku]New PS3 Bundle - MGS4 and Killzone 2

Quote:
Normally, hardware bundles are a spotty affair. A game you don't really want, or two games, one you kinda want, one you just do not want. But this bundle, on sale at Best Buy next Sunday, looks great!

Sent in by a Best Buy employee, and confirmed by other BB employees, it's an 80GB PS3 bundled with copies of two of the biggest games on the system: Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2. All that for the asking price of a standard PS3, $400.

It's one hell of a bundle. It's like getting a Wii with Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy, or a 360 with Gears 2 and Halo 3. But perhaps more importantly, it's also one hell of a saving; perhaps Best Buy need to clear out their stock of 80GB PS3s for oh, I don't know, a new PS3?

That's great news. That's almost a $299 PS3, right?

I don't know how expensive your games are over in the US of A, but seems a nice bundle, and should keep you fairly occupied for a while.

Maybe not the best advert for new users though:
*YAY A PS3!*
*MGS4*
*MGS INSTALL............install continues.......Oh look Snake's having a smoke.... more installs..*

Not the best first impression eh?

That said, I'm loving my PS3, still all over infamous right now though.

this is a great deal as its 2 of ps3s must have games, so its essensially $120 + tax off. Too bad i already have a ps3 or id get this.
@ antitalent: new 360 and ps3 games are $60, new pc games are $50.

I want an update where I can have the option to install the game all together.

I only played through MGS4 once, does it install on every play through or just on the first one?

I ask because I notice it counts as part of the time spent playing.

There are 4 parts in MGS4 iirc. Each part you have to individually install once you get up to it. It overwrites the previous part, so you have to reinstall the parts if you choose the play them again.

IMO - its a stupid system. You have to reinstall it everytime you play through it. They should've just made one universal install. They did it to save space on your hard drive, because each install file iirc is about 4GB or something so if you were to install all of it together it would be about 16GB file. But, I rather have that then sit there and install at every part of the game.

^ No idea. I only played through once. But I would guess each subsequent install replaces the previous one to prevent dumping 20GB of data all at once onto your PS3 hard drive. But I could be wrong, if it does install everything, then that's pretty nifty for replay value.

To those waiting for a $299 PS3... what are you waiting for now? Oh yeah, PS3 Slim, 500GB hard drives, Full BC, magical elves and a machine that turns water into cocaine
