Grateful that they're stealing our ideas? You've got to be kidding. Hopefully you come up with anything genuinely interesting or unique, so you can feel the pain of having it stolen from you, and have others claim credit for what you've done.

I think thats a bit of a low blow. They are serving a different market as well. Its not like TF2 is super popular in Korea and China(it isnt). So they made their own version of TF2 and watered it down with some cute anime girls and toy robots, let it go. Its not like Valve depends on its markets over there anyway, else you would see more mahjong and free rpgs on steam.

As far as the copy thing, well maybe more or less, Asian countries often take good ideas and make them better. (Japan = Cars, electronics, etc. Korea = TVs, Monitors, phones, etc. China = uh, well china makes good stuff too.)

I think some people are backing steam too personally, if valve has a big issue with it, then let them tell you how you should feel. I mean theres tons of Counter strike knockoffs but no one really cared about those. (or no one plays CS any more. lol)

He was referring to East Asia copying everything not just video game ideas. If it weren't for those countries goods here in the US would go up overnight.

Disregarding his shallow and narrow view of East Asian countries copying is good and bad.

The bad? Hurts the person or company economically. The good? Imitation is a form of flattery and should pride oneself that someone out there thinks the idea or invention is worth copying.

This is nothing new of the Koreans, they've been pumping out imitation MMORPGs like their life depended on it.

From that perspective China and Korea can learn a thing or two from Japan. Copy someone's idea/design/invention and improve on it to fit your own needs/market. The Americans labeled the Japanese as Copy King in the auto industry, look at Japan now (Toyota > GM).
