Somethings only worth what a person is willing to pay for it. Having said that, tbh, it's priced just about right.

They shouldn't have released such a high end console, however, they aren't overpricing their hardware, that would be a company like apple. You get what you pay for with a PS3, it's just that most consumers don't want or need that.

Maybe they should release a PS3 with no harddrive (or a VERY small one) and just a regular dvd drive like the xbox uses. That way the whiners wont complain that its too expensive. They just wont be able to play any of the games that get put on blu-ray disks.

As has been said, the hardware for the PS3 costs too much, and the only way to do so is start cutting hardware, in build quality or in high-ended-ness. If people dont want to pay for good hardware, let them risk dead PS3s or RROD-like problems. Otherwise, wait for a sale on one or buy a 360.

I think the PS3 may be in a very serious situation with it's pricing. The hardware cost needs to be dropped fast and hard, they may need to make sacrifices to accomplish that.

False, those reports are 3 years old. Prices for PS3 components have dropped significantly since then. Can't rely on a report that still charges $600 for 60GB PS3.

I don't know why people on a overclocking forum whines about PS3 being overpriced when many of the things we do here is no where near being economically sound.

Give it a rest... The PS3 is priced to what you get... or it was like that... now it costs even less than what it gives.

The PS3 is now £299. If people had no issues paying that for a 360 and a 360 Elite, then it's not an issue for the PS3. Therefore it's not overpriced!

It is the technologically superior console and the most expensive to make.

If you can't afford it, then you can't afford it. Deal with it, like I have had to. I'm dying to get one, but I can't afford it. When the time is good, Sony will drop the price.

Also, off topic:

I'll be getting the chunky PS3, over the Slim one, unless the Slim adds instead of taking away.

i dont see how it is superior on spec sheet or gmaes out compared to the 360. we all know it is superior to the wii

Its not possible.
The PS3 NEEDS the hard drive, and it NEEDS the blu-ray player. Explain to me how the PS3 buyers would be able to play PS3 games without a blu-ray player? Then, explain to me how they would be able to player without the hard drive or a small one?

Not to mention, hard drive prices are extremely cheap especially if they sign a deal off with Seagate or WD for large quantity production. I'm doubting that affects the price as much as everything else.

I was in chat earlier and we were talking about cameras. I need a new one so I asked for suggestions, people were linking me $1,000+ cameras, some even without lenses so you'd need to buy $500 ones seperate. I'm like "woah, this is waaaaaay to expensive" - everyone in chat was like "no! It's not too expensive! You're paying for what you get and this is considered cheap for things like this" I had to leave.
