This is just a little sneak peak. Just news to stir up a no news period. Perfectly fine to do. You all want real time render demos. You have to wait for those and for a long time. Just enjoy the little news we get and be excited that this is a better version of DX than 10.

Mess around?!

The waiting is nearly over, look how many games will use it!

It is a woman.

That is a shot of an ATI showcase of ray-tracing, of course it looks nice, but it is also in real-time. Corr3ct me if I'm complex and wrong.

Sneak peak? We've seen videos and pictures resembling if not better then that picture for the past 2 or 3 DX illiterations. So how do you know we'll have that now?

For all you know, this could be worse.
Not that I don't think or hope so, but you act like you've seen it first hand.

How do we know that though? And on what hardware?

I'll wait for the devs to pick it up.

Wasn't this promised with DX10?

I'm VERY excited about DX11, don't get me wrong. It just won't look like the picture, and I care nothing about a picture taken from a movie sequence that isn't realtime gameplay.

You know, DX10...It's never really gotten any love. Price points have made it dodgy as a feature to insist on (you really need muscular cards to run it, even now), and of course Vista-only didn't help...but it really transformed more than a few games for me, like Company Of Heroes, which I'd already mostly played through before I had the hardware to get >30fps w/DX10. I'm currently re-playing it, and DX10 makes an amazing game even better (lovely soft light cones from motorcycle headlights, billowing flames from flamethrowers, etc.)...And of course, That Game, it's essential for it...anyway, we still haven't seen much of DX10. Hopefully DX11 will be (1) even better, and (2) playable with affordable cards, soon after release (this one I doubt).

Soon we will have designated gaming rooms (think holo-decks from Star Trek).
