If they were concerned about mods messing up gameplay, couldn't they have done what DICE did with BF2? If I remember correctly you could not mod Vanilla servers, the most you could do was implement your own custom rules and maybe autoadmin.

Mods had to be downloaded separately and installed outside of the main game. The vanilla game was far more popular than any mods but at least it gives people the ability to customize the game. BF2 is still very popular today and typically has over 10k players on.

I've decided just to not buy it, until it is around $20-$30. $60 is way too much and on top of that they aren't using dedicated servers which just sucks. I get it Matchmaking system works on consoles, but it just doesn't work well with PC gaming, L4D was somewhat of a dissapointment in that area, but they fixed it to where it is tolerable.

So apparently we can't have our cake and eat it too.

They could make it like the old CoD4/EveryotherdecentonlinePCFPS - L4D and have this new system while allowing people to easily join games without any trouble (Not like anyone did in CoD4, cheaters in CoD4 were far and few between, I've only ever seen two people cheating in my 600+ hours of CoD4 MP.) and still have dedicated servers and mods for people who want a PC game and not a bad console game.

even at 30 bucks this game wont be worth the hell that multiplayer is going to be. Single player campaign maybe...but not quite
