Hah, this is too true, until recently I didn't even realize any patches had even been released for COD4. I was able to play on servers with my original retail version just fine. I was expecting a auto-update or at least a notification that there was a patch.

If they just wanted to ensure idiot players could play without having to choose a server, they would have made matchmaking an optional choice alongside a server browser.

This is about control. More control means more ways to make money.

i was on the line about which system to get this for, PC or 360. now its for sure 360. what with the price hike for the PC version, and the exclusivity that the 360 version gets, i know which one im getting.

Yea pirating defiantly has an impact on it but I think that the majority of people that love to play the series will go out and buy their own copy. Their is no way it's a money issue either imo. The amount of money they will make off of the console and pc sales will more than likely make up for the drop in the bucket pirated copies.

Also I'm not a fan of matchmaking, that's one reason I love PC gaming. Most games I play I have at least a half dozen server's I jump between because of the variety of the gaming experience mixed with the different people. Match making just removes the option of choice...

Well whoever buys this let everyone know how the matcmaking really is.

No thanks. IW will have to do some massive bundling with gpu vendors to get this thing to do well on the PC. Otherwise, CoD4 is going to keep the user base.

i agree with this on tf2 for example i play on 3 servers and only 2 on a regular basis and those are the ocn server and the ATG 24/7 badwater server and thats it
