Default [gameinformer]Infinity Ward Responds To PC Fanboys' Dedicated Server Woes

"However -- and this may shock some gamers with advanced persecution complexes -- this move was not made to tweak the noses of the PC community. Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella explain the decision as a conscious effort to improve their game for the vast majority of their players.

"We're just prioritizing the player experience above the modders and the tuners," says West. He points toward the mounting feedback IW has received from PC fans of Modern Warfare who couldn't find a decent server to play on between all of the cheaters, the insular communities, and huge skill level disparities that the original game's community fractured into. "We thought maybe it would be cool if the fans could play the game," he laughs."

TBH I kind of agree with this.... it's exactly why I don't touch L4D vs. anymore.

I don't have the time to maintain a team, most of my friends are on at random times, and I'm better than noobs. That means I'm pretty much screwed for getting a fun game.

Him saying that about one of the most popular PC FPS'ers seems a little off... did someone get hit in the head with a blunt object recently?

The sheer number of players on CoD4 would indicate otherwise, mr West. Open your eyes, dumb***.

And now may I ask, would it be too hard to have both options? IWnet or whatever is called for those who wanna play in there with all the marvellous features it offers, AND dedicated servers for modders and other kind of players?

Yeah this cut it for me.
Not spending my money on it.

I think I'll get a new monitor instead.

I've played CoD4 for both PC and xbox360, I own it for 360 cuz I got it for $20 bucks from someone in the dorms last year. I kind of preferred the feel of playing it on xbox live. I liked having match making, compared to previous experience with CoD4 on PC, it was much more casual, I could just pick it up and play, by myself or with friends. I think the guys at IW are right, that more people would like match making, for casual players I think it would seem much more inviting for online play. As far as everyone on OCN, most are pretty hardcore gamers. I think they should have the option for dedicated server, but I think that trying match making for a PC game isn't a bad idea.

Nope, they think they'll make more money because of the DLC. I thought the PC gamer loyalty would have wavered their decision but I guess not. It's more than likely just about the money.

Now we all get to sit back and listen to all the console gamers mock the PC gamers because our voice wasn't heard, well rather it was disregarded.

I have COD4/5 for both PC and Xbox, and I see where the guy's statement was going. I am all for it, but lets not forget the server lists and the modding community. Lets merge it together, but not take one away over another. That is my 2 cents.
