Default [GameSpot] DJ Hero preorders augur weak sales

Quote:
"The largest factor in our estimate reduction is the recognition that the declines in the music genre earlier in the year were not temporary, and are likely to persist going forward," he said. "We have significantly reset our expectations for Activision's various music genre Hero franchises in 2009 and 2010."
Um, that's because you guys have super-saturated the market. How many rhythym games do we really need, for pete's sake? I count four from Activision in 2009...GH5, GH:Van Halen, Band Hero, and DJ Hero. That's just too darn many!!!

Quote:
Notably, Creutz drastically cut projections for Activision's newest rhythm game franchise, DJ Hero. Having previously expected DJ Hero to sell 1.6 million units through the end of December in the US, Creutz lowered those projections to 616,000 units, a 61 percent drop.
Can't say I'm surprised, I never thought this was a good idea. I love the guitar and drum games, but fake scratching to a bunch of crappy hip-hop? Do not want.

Agreed Vulcan. However I'd rather see it branch out to DJ Hero than GH6 myself.

Some nice Daft Punk was playing in the commercial and I was mesmerized lol Like the first time I saw Guitar hero....

Funny considering they are apparently making a Tiesto version.

No offense but I'm willing to guess DJ Hero isn't marketed towards middle-aged white men.

I'm willing to bet this will be a hit with certain demographics. Overall hit? Not so much.

Everyone did?
Bold statement but me and my friends imagined a sort of "Dj Hero" 3 years ago.
and at parties on occasion, in conversations on occasion something like DJ Hero would come up as one of those "Dude what would happen if.."
Unfortunately it's not being released for the pc so I'm not getting it.
It's actually way more challenging then you think and there's not just "crappy hip hop"
The game deserves some respect.
Could have gotten all respect if it was out for pc.

Most gamers who buy GH or RB are into classic rock or metal, or some variety of that, THAT'S why DJ Hero fails.

Hmm... they'll have to price this lower for the demographics that it will appeal too
