If you guys really want to play PS2 games, then I would suggest you do it on the computer or pc if you have the hardware for it.

CPU: What you will need is a Core 2 Duo CPU clocked at 3Ghz or higher (the higher the better the fps) or an AMD equivalent processor.

GPU: At least a DirectX 9 video card (DirectX 10 will give fps boost and better image quality) with 256-bit memory interface or higher, 512MB memory (more would be better because PS2 emulation is a demanding program).

So what are the benefits of using PCSX2 instead of your PS3?

1. Well, first you will notice a major graphic or image quality boost compared to the standard PS2 because PCSX2 will let you choose your any resolution (if your hardware have no issue running at such resolution..) which will result in HD gameplay!

2. Anti-Aliasing or AA: You thought AA was only available only for pc games? Well, think again! AA is cool but it will take a hefty fps drop if you enable it.

3. Put your multi-core cpu to better use: If you like benching then why not bench with PCSX2? Currently pcsx2 only support dual core or 2 physical cores.

4. Play games at lightning speed: If you are playing those long hour games like an RPG gene or just want to speed up the pace of your game, then pcsx2 is the program for it! With your awesome raw power of your CPU and GPU, whether it is a Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad or an AMD equivalent. Once you met those requirements you are good to go and can play most games easily at 100 fps or higher. Game Like Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII are 100 percents playable and capable of reaching 100 fps and higher.

Lightning speed my arse, PCSX2 runs like crap and game support is still bad.

"can play most games easily at 100 fps or higher"
Not true at all, some games can play at those speeds, no where near 50% of them can.

Not to bash PCSX2 It's pretty good but misleading post is misleading.

PCSX2 is a working in progress emulation of course not all game will run correctly, but most major big titles run fine. Of course properly configurations are needed to run speed beyond 60 fps (native ps2 speed). If you can't get your game to run then it is either not fully supported or compatible. Or you just don't have the proper configurations Always read the FAQs if you run any trouble.

And best to use the latest pcsx2 revision and latest plug-ins if you want to see better improvement in pcsx2

You obviously never played final fantasy X on it cause when I did there were so many graphical glitches it was unbearable. Hell the opening seen where the gang is sitting in a group over looking zanardkan the floor was missing and the subtitles didn't show up.

PCSX2 blows but it the closest thing to a real ps2 emulator. Even sony can't make an emulator that works with all games so I seriously doubt some person sitting in their basement can do it.

When was the last time you used pcsx2? If you talking about 2 years or more ago then your post is invalid. PCSX2 has made great progresses and the Final Fantasy series are the most stable and 100% playable game ever. I think you need try the latest pcsx2 before making a post

the last time i tried it was back in march. And I have tried it multiple times before that. Socom don't even get me started with that load. It loaded the "loading game saves" screen and froze and it did it in black and white.

Even PCSX own website says its not 100% working correctly according to it's key. So don't tell me what to do when its coming from the source.

http://pcsx2.net/compat.php?&c=f&s1=...&s4=1&s5=1&p=3

And incase you can't read the key properly here it is.

Playable:You can get from 'new game' to 'end credits'. This is regardless of FPS, it simply means you could with a great deal of patience, complete the game! eg: Slow, but stable!

PCSX2 maybe the best emulator but it doesn't mean its good.

Sony WILL release PS2 emulation for the PS3, they didn't because it was still selling like hotcakes...

Wow. You fail.

What the heck do I care that the old ones could play PS2 games on it? I wasn't paying $600 for a PS3, I'm not a sucker.
