Default [Reuters] Nokia to close gaming service N-Gage

source

Quote:
Nokia Oyj will close its battered gaming service N-Gage next year, acknowledging failure in its first major services offering.
Quote:
"We will no longer publish new games for the N-Gage platform," Nokia said on its N-Gage blog, to which a user calling himself Jon replied: "It's a sad day for N-Gage fans."
Ha ha! when i saw this i was like "the n-gage is still around!?"

P.S.- it's my 1st news post so go easy on me

Wasn't N-Gage that old handheld thing that wasn't very popular in the first place? I could be wrong, but I don't ever remember anyone in my place being like "Dude I want an N-Gage". Rightfully well that they're stopping it.

I wonder why they didn't just send the 37 active users with a ngage 10$ in compensation and just cancel the service years ago.

This thing was a complete joke

N Gage is also compatible on most of the N Series phones.

Shame really. They are the only phone games that actually compete at the iPhones level. The problem is the games cost an arm and a leg

You must not confuse the device (2003) and the service (2005) with each other.

The device had it's issues both as a phone as well as a gaming platform (also from a game developers point of view ).

The service on the other hand (at least the idea) was quite a nice one. You could even say it was a bit ahead of it's time. Sort of a predecessor for iTunes or XBLA but it had it's issues as well.
