Default [DD] MW2 gets "Prestiege" Strategy Guide

Quote:
Not content to have two special editions of the game itself, Modern Warfare 2 will also have a "Prestige Edition" strategy guide. Yeah, aren't we going just a little overboard with the whole "premium" thing now, guys?

Brady has revealed two versions of the official Modern Warfare 2 strategy guide, a normal one and a more expensive one. The main differences are the fact that the Prestige Edition is hardcover and includes information on how to obtain the game's Achievements and Trophies. Apparently that makes it worth £20 in the UK, while the inferior "Signature Edition" costs £13.
Milk it more Mr. Farmer, milk her dry!

I noticed the same thing with Dragon Age. Theirs a regular guide and a hardcover Collectors Edition guide from Prima Games. This isnt about the devs.

1. Throw grenade.
2. ???
3. PROFIT

You don't need a $30 or so guide for that.

A Collector's Edition Strategy Guide? I can see how that might appeal to people. Anyone remember the old Zelda Link to the Past Strategy Guide? Softcover, eight and a half by eleven? Last I saw mine the cover looked pretty worn. (Haven't had one since).

Still, while it might be nice to have a hardcover for those things--assuming you use them rather than just explore the game--that's a waste of money. It's not like you're going to collect the strategy guide, especially for a game like Modern Warfare 2. (There isn't actually a market of people buying old guides is there? Please tell me there isn't).

Goes well with the idea of making as much money as possible, however. Nice to see they're doing everything possible in one go. Why phase it in when you can just lay it on out there? Phasing it in people might gradually accept it, but then you risk people noticing your con game and throwing in the towel.

If they made only 1k copies then I'd say its a collectors edition

I remember I used to put those guides in contacts after I found my Final Fantasy Tactics one in ruins.
Wonder if I can find my Megaman Legends one. That one I reinforced in triple layers of contact. XD
