Why are a majority of the threads on the front page even considered news? I could sift through the pages upon pages of "news" and more than half of them should be in Off Topic.

Wicki, as much discontent I have for the actions IW have taken with MW2:

They all ready have an extremely bad rep, but blind followers will always be there as well as console-kiddies. IW isn't going to lose sleep over this, it will just reinforce the fact that they should be console only. Much like Epic has done with Gears of War.

18 is much too small for PC.. But with the lack of dedicated servers it'd be retarded finding capable hosts for 24/32 player matches.

Again, I'm still waiting to hear what you expected him to say. He's not going to sit there and say "oh no, its a direct console port and we have no extra features whatsoever. Yet there is a $10 price hike on it!"

The only reason I will be playing MW2 for the PC will be for the single player. I've always been a huge fan of their story modes.

CoD1 is only on consoles now with XBox Arcade and Playstation Network. It was not released on the consoles originally. Roots are in PC. Look it up.


For *me* and most of the people I play with, dedicated servers are ESSENTIAL for an FPS. You build a community out of it. You don't know anybody? Try servers until you find one you like. Play there. You'll get to know people, build friendships and rivalries. Join the clan eventually. Help support the server.

KICKING people who are jerks, obvious cheaters/hacks... It's going to be lovely relying on an anti-cheat to get rid of all cheaters, isn't it? VAC and PB games alike, the only reason we are not OVERRUN with raging aimbots and such is because we have the ability to kick them.

We are pissed. I am not demanding they add dedicated servers in. I am pissed that they are straying so far from their roots. Yes, their roots. CoD1 was NOT ON CONSOLES when released. We have the right not only to not buy a game that we are unhappy with, but we can do what we can to tell others of our dissatisfaction. You seem to believe that we should not be allowed to do this.

The only conceivable reasons I can see for removing dedicated servers are:
A) Laziness. Unlikely, as setting up IW.Net is likely as much work/cost as just allowing dedicated servers. I don't think this is true.
B) Control/DLC. It'll be hard to market DLC when people have mods running on servers. Solution? Don't allow it. This is kind of feasible.
C) Anti-piracy. Understandable, but uhh, let's be fair. 360 has had people playing the leaked version and beating it already. It is more common for a big title to be leaked on 360 than not. (And games leaking early in the PC community is very relatively rare)



If you don't care about dedicated servers, you will not understand this. If you don't understand this, then stop trying to debate EVERY SINGLE PERSON that does not like what IW has done.




Oh... and before somebody tries to reason with "lol what if u dont like the game even if it had dedicated servers"...

A prerequisite for a competitive FPS for me is a dedicated server. I do not enjoy competitive multiplayer FPS games without that option. It would be like getting mad at somebody for discarding a 2 door car because they want a 4 door. "Heeeyyy, just try it! You might like it with 2 doors, and it still drives, right?"

Ya know I got to say I came down pretty hard on Omega in his youtube thread and thought he was wrong. But with that being said I see more maturity from this guy with his post here then I've seen from alot of our older members who have college degrees.

Instead of whining about all the "crap" he's actually focused on the good and imo been pretty spot on with most of his arguments.
