I've decided not to let myself get excited over any more PC games. Sure, BC2 looks good, but so did Modern Warfare 2 until a month ago. DICE has plenty of time to screw BF2 up. One thing that would do it for me would be any kind of DRM that limits the game to an account or X number of installs. No matter how good the game was supposed to be, I'll never find out, because I'll never play it.

You know I have been with Steam for that stuff, then add DLC, Dedicated servers.... It should be clear why I think MW2 sucks donkey dick, even though I've never and will never play it (until these annoying bugs are fixed by a proper development crew)

People let it bother them. It's not a hard fix. Either find another server, or voteban/contact an admin (depending on the game). I've spent my fair share of money on games, and when I'm getting cheated, I only hit about a 2 on the upset meter (1 being the indifferent, 10 being genocidal rage).

Whenever I did join public servers while cheating, I'd stop if somebody would address me calmly and ask me to stop. That happens maybe 5% of the time. The rest of the time, people either did what I suggested above, or they started keyboard smashing.

On the topic of somehow incorporating cod4's dedicated server support to mw2 by tweaking with the code...even if it is possible (never mind stable)....are there going to be maps that support more more than 18 players? I mean would fitting 32 players on their purposely designed maps hinder the experience so we might as well just keep playing cod4?

I had a whinge about the whole mw2 to my gf over dinner last night. Suffice to say she didn't really care and just zoned out. They don't know our STRUGGLE!

My girlfriend semi-knows the struggle... she understands that I'm upset and all, but it doesn't matter to her because she plays Xbox 360 primarily, as opposed to the PC (Sims 3 and the like are all she plays on PC).

I have as much respect for a cheater as I do for someone who pirates a game. You have no right to ruin someone else's gaming experience. People pay good money for a game so they can have fun, you should not be able to take that away from them. What if they hacked the game in such a way that whenever you fired a weapon, it shut off your console? Would it be justified because they're having fun?

And if everyone is cheating, it is still not fun for anyone (unless by 'cheating' we're talking about everyone playing on a mod server, which isn't really cheating at that point).

If you don't like MW2, don't play it, and certainly don't buy it, but don't ruin it for those who bought it and like it.

If MW2 was anything like other games (dedicated servers, players having the ability to moderate servers), then I'd never pay any mind to it. I honestly don't even plan on wasting my money on this game, but IW has put the game in such a horrible position. If you look up any kind of Halo mods, you'll see what people will be capable of in MW2. That's the problem with the listen server setup. If players were able to kick cheaters, then the problem wouldn't be as bad, but they have taken that away from you. So that leaves VAC being your one and only defense. A delayed ban system which only detects the most popular of public cheats.

From what I understand, Crysis' multiplayer was destroyed by cheats. That's a game which can utilize dedicated servers, and it still had cheats that go further than the usual ESP or aimbot. My point is, I expect MW2 to end up exactly like Crysis: dead.
