Default [Diablo Fans]Diablo 3: New skill system planned - no talent trees anymore?

Quote:
We have decided to throw the tree-like architecture overboard and rely on a skill-based system. This new system is still in development and if it does not please us, we have many options to go back." We currently try out various ideas. "The skill system is different from the hierarchical styles from World of Warcraft and Diablo 2, it is more of a talent pool for a tree

You sound like this is a bad thing. I personally think the Guild Wars system is a very good concept, if Blizzard can improve upon it, it will be even better.

The GW system was alright, problems arose when they added more skills into the game though.

Interesting.

However they do it, I'm sure Blizzard is being quite careful in this job, making sure they get it right the first time. Lots of angry fans will be awaiting their doorstep if otherwise.
